2024 PARTNERSHIPS

The B3 Rebelles did not grow up off-roading nor do they come from a background of rallying.

Their unique story began at the end of 2021 when Marie asked Hanna to join her in fulfilling a bucket list item of competing in the Rebelle Rally. Without missing a beat, Hanna said yes. With zero experience and no idea what they were getting themselves into, they immediately began researching and beginning their multi-year preparation.

After an amazing experience with the 2023 Rebelle Rally, they’re back at it again! This year, they’re returning to complete as Team #113 in the 2024 Rebelle Rally with their third teammate, a 2001 Land Rover Discovery named Bernard. With the experiences of 2023 to guide them, they are looking forward to another year of challenging driving, checkpoint hunting, and an amazing chance to experience some of the most beautiful terrain that not a lot of people have the opportunity to drive across.

MEET MARIE.

“The Bulldozer”

From a very young age, Marie dreamed of being a “Woman in Motorsports”. Back in the early 80s, there weren’t many women in motorsports and entry into the sport was not very accessible for someone who didn’t already have an established connection. So, she stayed a fan from afar. She watched a lot of automotive races & rallies, collected models and posters, and enjoyed the sport, hoping for a day where she could somehow become more involved.

MEET HANNA.

“The Boss”

Hanna used to be indifferent when it came to any form of motorsport. That all went out the window when she took her first ride along at an Autocross event. She quickly fell in love with tracking and time attack style racing. This spark led to an opportunity to participate in the Rebelle Rally where she discovered a new love for map & compass navigation and offroading.

MEET BERNARD.

“The Third Teammate”

A lot of us all remember the first big purchase that we could finally afford as adults. Bernard was Marie’s big purchase. Years of fangirling over the Camel Trophy and Dakar Rally put Land Rover on her radar, and the Discovery II was the car for her. Bernard was going to be her faithful companion in a life of fun and adventure. And then reality sunk in. The dream life of fun in the outdoors had to make way for work and adult responsibilities.

  • The B3 Rebelles will put your gear to the test during trainings, networking events, and during the Rebelle Rally and provide detailed feedback. Trainings and the Rebel e Rally are a great opportunity for product and brand exposure.

  • The B3 Rebelles has placement options on Bernard and The B3 Rebelles Gear (Helmet, Attire, etc.) for your company’s logo and branding. As one of the oldest vehicles competing, Bernard received lots of coverage during the 2023 Rebelle Rally.

  • The B3 Rebelles can produce high quality content featuring product and brand on the official B3 Rebelles Instagram. The account is followed by a strong and engaged community of women participating in the Rebelle Rally as well as general enthusiasts.

WHERE YOU FIT IN

In 2023, we focused on learning the foundational skills that allowed us to compete in the 2023 Rebelle Rally. Our efforts were focused on learning new skills, adapting to new environments, and preparing Bernard for his first big adventure.

With our rookie year under our belt, we hope to be more competitive in this year’s rally. Throughout this year, we plan to continue sharpening our skills and continue growing. We learned many lessons last year and identified some opportunities for improvement that we’re excited to work on with the support of our sponsors & partners.

WHAT WE’RE SEEKING

We’re excited to continue growing and becoming better drivers and navigators every day with the support of our partners.

  • We are both eager to improve our driving and navigational skills by continuing to participate in group trainings and courses, and continuing to gain practical application during overlanding trips.

  • While completing the Rebelle Rally in an almost entirely stock 20-year old vehicle is something we’re really proud of, we’re excited to make some minor improvements that will allow us to be more competitive and feel more comfortable taking on more advanced driving routes.

  • One of the main takeaways from last year’s rally was the importance of staying organized and focused during competition days. We’re excited to make improvements to the driver and navigation cockpits that will improve and streamline each teammember’s tasks and responsibilities.

  • Though, at the end of the day, the Rebelle Rally is a competition, we still believe it is just as important to have fun. There are many grueling and challenging moments, but we believe that as long as you’re prioritizing a good time, you’ll have an amazing rally.

We’re signed up for courses and have our overlanding trips planned, and will continue to add to the calendar throughout the year.

WHAT MAKES US UNIQUE

“In a sea of brand new, shiny, flawlessly wrapped manufacturer-backed trucks, Bernard rests on the perimeter with the rust spot on his roof glimmering under the afternoon sun.”

This excerpt was taken from our team’s journal entry during last year’s Rebelle Rally tech inspection in Mammoth, and we feel like it answers the “what makes us unique?” question perfectly. As rookies with little to no off-road or navigational experience, just like Bernard, we scrappily trudged our way through each day of the rally, relying not on our experience, but our grit and determination to get across each day’s finish line.

At the end of each day, we were greeted by the Rebelle mechanics, always warily expecting us to pull into the mechanic’s bay. But instead of popping Bernard’s hood, they snapped some photos, and told Bernard what a good job he was doing. It was a sweet and special ritual at the end of each day, and it reminded us how much Bernard was adored.

With over 50% of the competing teams driving newer vehicles and some backed by major auto manufacturers, a 20-year old vehicle sticks out and ignites people’s curiosity. It didn’t take long before people were no longer referring to us as “the B3 Rebelles”, but instead, “Team Bernard.” As one of only four Land Rovers competing in last year’s Rally and the oldest competing, Bernard stole the hearts of many and set himself apart.
